The
Property Office is an integral part of Diocesan Financial Services, having principal responsibility for the
management of the building and property portfolio for the Catholic Diocese
of Rockhampton.
The
portfolio contains a wide
variety of buildings and land parcels. In addition to buildings which are
typically synonymous with the function of the Church, the mission of the Diocese
also extends to providing the community with aged care facilities, as well as a
variety of community services aimed at supporting needy and disadvantaged
groups. There is also a strong emphasis in providing for strategic areas
of growth for its mission, which includes providing suitable land parcels for
future Catholic Schools throughout the Diocese.
A key function of the Property Office is to
support and provide advice to the Building and Property Committee, which in turn
offers specialist advice to the Bishop.
Comprehensive information is held by the office
on properties which come under the jurisdiction of the Diocese including Title
Deeds, BLIN Maps, Insurance details, planning applications and any available
historical details. This information is correlated and electronically
stored on the Diocesan Asset Register.
In addition to the above, the Property Office is
able to provide advice and support to entities of the Diocese. Typical areas
where assistance may be sought relate to matters involving legal issues,
acquisitions & disposals, alterations, extensions & demolitions, together with
the ability to monitor, review and implement comprehensive maintenance regimes.
