Parish revIews
Parish Reviews are a vital
support mechanism for Parishes, Clergy, staff and volunteers. Each year, a
Review Officer from Diocesan Financial Services visits each Parish and spends a
day looking at various facets of its operations. Following the Review, the
staff member compiles a report which is forwarded to the Parish's finance
committee for consideration. The opportunity exists for the Review Officer
to attend a Parish Finance Committee meeting to further discuss the report.
The chief objective of the Review
is to assess each Parish's compliance in a number of areas, including civil and tax laws
and statutory regulations, as well as with Workplace Health &
Safety, industrial relations and employment laws, and Diocesan policy to name a
few. Strategies are then formulated in order to manage that risk or in turn take
action to minimise the risk in some way.
Parish Reviews are generally
undertaken from August to December each year.
